REGINALD SANTIAGO
Board Director
Reginald “Reggie” Santiago is a healthcare leader and U.S. Army veteran originally from Atlanta, Georgia. A former paratrooper and combat veteran, he went on to serve as a paramedic, adjunct paramedic instructor, and trauma medical instructor for the U.S. Army Special Operations. His nursing background includes work as an Emergency Department RN at WakeMed and his current role as a care coordinator and RN case manager at Duke University Hospital.
Reggie is extensively credentialed, holding board certifications as a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Trauma Certified RN (TCRN), Certified Flight RN (CFRN), and Certified Transport RN (CTRN) through the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing. He is also certified in Adult Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and maintains both state and national registry paramedic credentials.
His academic foundation includes an AAS in Emergency Medical Science from Davidson-Davie Community College, an Associate Degree in Nursing from Bladen Community College, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University. He will graduate in May 2026 with a Master of Science in Nursing from East Carolina University as an Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Advanced Practice Nurse.
Reggie is committed to service and advocacy beyond the clinical setting. He serves as an inaugural board member of the Pirate Nurse Alumni Council, a board member for Hands of Protection to Prevent Child Abuse, and the Health Chair for both the Johnston County NAACP and the Smithfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Reggie is married and currently living in Garner, NC.
