Purpose & vision

 

Our mission is to cultivate confident, purpose-driven young leaders who proudly represent their heritage, positively impact their communities, and honor the legacy of Juneteenth.

The Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant was created to uplift and empower youth through education, preparation, and community engagement. The program emphasizes character, responsibility, and self-confidence while encouraging participants to reflect on the importance of leadership and service.

Pageant experience

 

The pageant experience is designed to be enriching and development-focused, extending beyond a single event. Participants engage in structured activities that support leadership readiness, personal development, and overall well-being, including:

• Leadership development and etiquette training

• Public speaking and interview preparation

• Financial literacy education focused on money management, budgeting, and future planning

• Mental health awareness and wellness discussions that promote self-care, emotional resilience, and healthy coping strategies

• Cultural awareness and personal presentation

• Guided mentorship and support throughout the process

 

This comprehensive approach ensures participants gain practical skills, confidence, and awareness that can be applied well beyond pageant day, fully aligning with the program’s mission and core values.

Who the Pageant Is For?

The pageant uplifts students who embody leadership and cultural pride. Through participation, students help strengthen opportunities for themselves and other young people through scholarships, educational initiatives, enrichment activities, and the Say Y.E.S. CREW program.

Participants are encouraged to bring authenticity, curiosity, and commitment to the experience.
